idyll
A downloadable tool for Windows and Linux
idyll
an idyllic region in your computer's heap for fractals to coexist in complete peace and harmony
what?
technically speaking, idyll is a multithreaded, cpu-based, raymarcher/path-tracer, standalone random fractal renderer.
in other words, it's a program that automatically creates very cool images such as the ones you can see in this gallery or in this video:
why?
glad you asked. finding good wallpapers ends up being a waste of time every now and then, so I decided to invest countless hours of my time developing a tool that solves this recurrent problem of mine in the coolest way possible.
usage
- run idyll.
- a configuration file named 'config.txt' will be created in the same directory.
- the first time you run the program, the 'config .txt' file will have standard values.
- you can change the values at the 'config.txt' file to fit your needs by changing the resolution, rendering quality and some other values detailed in the 'config.txt' file.
- enjoy your fresh and unique fractals!
open source!
that's right, you can find the source code and some more information about it on the github repo.
sad stuff
since idyll is a standalone executable binary file which performs low-level memory manipilation and multithreading, it's very likely to get flagged as a virus. if this concerns you, you can always take a look at the source code and / or compile it yourself.
